Maybe you want to know
What is the difference between solid-pin and hollow-pin plug inserts?
Solid-pin inserts are made from a single piece of copper and offer higher mechanical strength, making them ideal for heavy-duty applications such as industrial power cords and appliance plugs. Hollow-pin inserts have a tubular construction that reduces material weight and cost while still meeting all electrical performance requirements. Both types are available in nickel-plated and tin-plated finishes. Green Electric manufactures both variants across all major international pin formats including round (European/Brazilian), flat blade (North American), and rectangular blade (UK/South African) profiles.
Which international certifications do your plug inserts carry?
Our plug inserts are certified to the following standards: UL (USA, tested to UL 498), VDE (Germany/Europe, EN 50075 / IEC 60083), BSI (United Kingdom, BS 1363), T-MARK (Japan, PSE Act), CCC (China, GB 2099.1), KC (Korea, KS C 8305), IRAM (Argentina, IRAM 2073), and INMETRO/BSA (Brazil, NBR 14136). All products are also RoHS compliant and carry the GS and PAHS marks for European market entry. Certification documentation is available upon request for OEM customers.
Can plug inserts be customized to match our existing mold tooling?
Yes. As a vertically integrated manufacturer with in-house stamping and tooling capabilities, Green Electric can produce plug inserts to customer-supplied dimensional drawings. We support custom pin diameter, pin length, pin spacing, and surface finish. Brass-core constructions with custom plating (nickel, tin, or silver) are also available. Minimum order quantity for custom tooling projects starts from 10,000 pieces per specification. Lead time for new tooling is typically 20–30 working days.
Q4: What materials are used in our plug inserts?
The conductive pins are made from electrolytic copper (Cu ≥ 99.9%) with a nickel-plated surface finish as standard — this combination provides low contact resistance, excellent corrosion resistance, and long service life exceeding 5,000 insertion cycles. The insulating housing is molded from PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) plastic reinforced with 30% halogen-free flame retardant, rated UL94 V-0. Tin-plated and silver-plated pin finishes are available as options for applications requiring specific conductivity or solderability.
Q5: What is the minimum order quantity for plug inserts, and do you offer samples?
For standard catalog plug insert models (UL, VDE, BSI, CCC, T-MARK types), the minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per model. For custom OEM specifications requiring new tooling, MOQ may vary based on tooling cost. Free samples of standard models are available for qualified buyers — please contact info@gepowercord.com with your target standard, pin type, and intended application. Sample lead time is 3–5 business days, and DHL/FedEx shipping is supported worldwide.
